Balayage is loved because it grows out softly — there's no harsh regrowth line, just a gradual, sun-kissed blend. That same quality is what makes it so low-maintenance, but a few habits will keep it looking salon-fresh for far longer.
Wash less, and wash cooler
Hot water opens the cuticle and lifts tone. Lukewarm water, a sulphate-free shampoo and a couple of days between washes will hold your colour and shine. A weekly purple or blue toning mask keeps blondes and brunettes from going brassy.
Protect it from heat and sun
UV and hot tools are the fastest way to fade lived-in colour. A heat protectant before styling and a hat or UV mist on the beach make a visible difference over the weeks between visits.
Book a gloss, not a full colour
Most balayage only needs a toning gloss every six to ten weeks to refresh tone and shine — far gentler and quicker than re-lightening. We'll tell you honestly when you're due.
